• The procedure costs $5,000
• It is done 40,000 times a year
• Do the math, that’s $200 Million a year on a surgery that works as well as doing nothing.
• Doctors didn’t want to participate in the study because they really believed they had their cure – a surgery that actually worked.  They didn’t want to face the reality that the results didn’t matter if a patient had the surgery or not.
